There are really no words to describe this hotel. The view is one of the best views one can have in this world and the rooms are just insane. Our travel Experts plan private vacation packages to include accommodations, transportation, and tours to make your vacation hassle-free. One of the villas is designed to accommodate disabled guests, but a spiral staircase at the entrance makes it unsuitable for wheelchair users and the pool and dining areas do not have ramps. All hotels have been independently reviewed by our expert writers, who are usually hosted on a complimentary basis. It was difficult to take our eyes away from that view. The hotel is very quiet because there are only a few rooms, this means that hotel guests say hello all the time which was great - everyone was so friendly. The staff knew everyone by name.the pool is incredible and the whole place is backed by rainforest. We saw toucans 2 of the 3 nights we stayed.

Kurà means jaguar in the language of the Borucans, a local tribe, and it is a fitting name for a stay that celebrates both wildlife and the indigenous. Devil masks – important cultural symbols for the Borucan people – are the dominant art in common areas and private quarters. Much of the property is constructed using glistening teak and translucent glass, the better to view the surrounding nature. The plush pool deck is adorned with modern Balinese furnishings and oversized purple hammocks.

The Kura Boutique Hotel was no less than incredible in every way. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and loved well before we arrived. Each time that we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the staff by name and with refreshments.

Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 9.5 for a two-person trip. Lock in a great price for Kura Boutique Hotel Member of the Cayuga Collection - rated 9.7 by recent guests. Kura is a proud member of the Cayuga Collection of Sustainable Luxury Hotels & Lodges. Through it’s environmental awareness efforts and sustainability programs, Kura represents a new generation of hoteliers leading the way for intelligent luxury travel. As an adults-only resort with 8 private suites, Kura is a glamorous destination for couples with an appetite for the best things in life. But when they were brought to the top of a mountain in Uvita, they instantly fell in love with the spectacular view.

The food (particularly the sushi) was very good. It displays featured reviews of the property. If you booked through us and want to leave a review, please sign in first. Cancellation and prepayment policies vary according to accommodations type. Please enter the dates of your stay and check what conditions apply to your preferred room.

The kitchen specialises in fusion dishes and seafood, offering a tantalising octopus and avocado cocktail and a delicate yellow fin tuna sashimi, but the steak sandwich wasn’t particularly inspired. Breakfast options include a yummy version of the Tico favourite gallo pinto, with coffee, juice, beans, rice, eggs and fresh fruit. Our room had a beautiful view and was very spacious. The restaurant and poolside area is also very peaceful and stunning. The staff are super friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable of the area. Couples may opt to spend the majority of the stay in their quarters which are extremely comfortable and arranged with intimacy in mind.

At Kura, we offer small and private tours to help you experience it all. A boutique, adults-only hotel high in the Uvita rainforest. Kura is an exclusive destination in its own right. Children under 16 are not allowed and the hotel mainly attracts honeymooners and other couples.

In the Studio with Hackwith Design House

With cozy essentials, seasonal colors, kids’ and extended sizing, and build-your-own sets, there’s truly something for everyone. (And when you’re done, MATE has a take-back program!) All locally made, within 15 miles of its LA office. On DRESSING UP (L) I love wearing jumpers to dressier occasions. It's such a fun way to dress up that is not a typical cocktail dress.

Being surrounded by such an amazing community makes it the perfect place to start a small business. MATE the Label is clean from seed to skin, 100 percent of the time. Made sustainably in Los Angeles, the brand only uses nontoxic, natural, and organic materials like organic cotton and linen.

We have some new wide-legged jumpers coming out on June 8th that almost appear to be dresses but are actually jumpers, and I think those are perfect for a wedding or dressier event. On CONSIDERATE SHOPPING  (L) At this point, my closet is primarily Hackwith Design House. I strive to be a designer that stands behind what I make, so I make sure to love each piece I create, which results in a pretty full closet. When looking for pieces for my home, I try to find items made by people who feel the same way about their pieces.

Meet the duo behind Hackwith Design House

We are so thankful that our customers have joined us in this venture to create beautiful, ethically made clothing that is also sustainable for our environment. Everything is made in-house in our Minnesota studio by our talented team of seamstresses. To reduce waste, many of our items are not made until ordered by you. HDH's simple and clean aesthetic, quality fabrics, and impeccable attention to detail have made it a favorite of style-conscious women around the world.

ABLE helps sustainably break the cycle of poverty by employing and empowering women makers. As only two percent of fashion workers are paid living wages (and the industry is the largest employer of women worldwide), ABLE is committed to transparent wages to hold themselves accountable to higher ethics. We are in love with this Dolman dress, from its flowy sleeves to the cinched waist. If slip dresses are more your style, Boody’s is one you’ll love.

Like Jetsetter readers, I love traveling and dreaming about future trips! This season’s collection, for example, was inspired by my packing techniques for a recent trip to Mallorca, Spain. I sought out fabrics that were breathable and would be comfortable in warm weather, and designed pieces I could envision myself wearing at the market or the beach but that I could also wear at home to dinner. Harvest & Mill makes organic clothing in a fully traceable supply chain that is ethical, sustainable, and 100% American.

Designed To Be Your Favorite: Interview With Lisa Hackwith, Founder Of Hackwith Design House

Deeply valuing the time and creativity of her team of Minnesotan seamstresses, Lisa created a model of releasing a limited collection of products each week. Dr. Pragati Gusmano launched Nesara just this past year when she couldn’t find any comfortable postpartum dresses of her own. Using her fond memories “of the house dresses [her] mom and nani (grandmother) wore” as a drawing board, these dresses are sewn to standard sizes and hand-blocked by artisans using organic dyes for a beautiful finish. Perfect for postpartum and nursing, but also for anyone seeking a lightweight summer smock.

We've grown to offer additional lines including Core Collection, Swim, Basics, and Plus. Caylon Hackwith is a photographer, videographer, and art director. He began his career in art galleries and post-production studios fabricating large scale artworks for international exhibitions. He now produces images for architects, designers, hotels, and brands, as well as maintaining his own studio practice. He is perpetually seeking for a clean, minimal aesthetic that communicates beautifully and effectively. Although, he will always have a soft spot for the wild, bucolic landscape of his native Montana.

Shop ABLE

I chatted with the designer and Hackwith director of operations, Erin Husted, about their newly-minted studio space, the stories behind the brand and its Makers Alongside series, and what’s next for the ambitious designer. My first big project without a pattern was my own wedding dress. I couldn’t find a dress that really felt like me, so I decided to make my own. I’d only been sewing for a few months, so it was a big undertaking, but luckily, my client was very forgiving.

From there, it’s a matter of retraining your brain to plan for the true cost of clothing and being willing to invest in timeless pieces that you can wear over and over again. For our part, we are hoping to make it easier for our customers to invest in sustainable pieces with the launch of our new project The Sustain Shop on June 4th. People are able to send in their old HDH pieces for a $20 gift card (per piece) and shop gently used and one-of-a-kind samples at discounted prices. I was a one-woman show when I first launched the website, so I wasn’t able to produce more than a limited number of pieces each Monday. From my studio art background, I knew artists often did limited edition prints, so that inspired me to do some limited edition pieces.

Each dress is ethically made with OEKO-TEX certified fibers and nontoxic dyes, and if you don’t see your size listed, Loud Bodies will also make a custom order just for you—free of charge! Add a pop of color or pattern to your day with Kemi Telford’s dresses. This UK-based designer uses African wax paints inspired by her upbringing in Nigeria.

After about four months of selling out of each limited edition piece, I was able to afford a seamstress to work with me. I also found my business partner, Erin, who was able to take on the business side of the operation. Today, Hackwith Design House offers a wide collection of timeless designs and quality pieces that afford women to quite literally wear their values on their sleeves. Passionate about textiles since she was first gifted a sewing machine by her mother, she launched Hackwith Design House to produce limited edition fashion at affordable prices.

15 Eclectic Design and Home Decor Ideas

eclectic home design

Less is more, and as all good dramatists know, it's not so much what is revealed but that which is hinted at that packs the most powerful punch. Therefore, it's integral you allow for some empty or negative space in your eclectic design scheme. Eclectic decor by its very nature makes for some extremely busy interiors.

How Does a Traditional Eclectic Space Feel?

In doing so, the framed textile’s dark border gets picked up by the hair-on-hide wing chair and the black window frame, while bright blues and reds pop across silky pillow cushions. Although the term 'eclectic' is widely used to describe spaces that don’t fit squarely into one genre, the interior design style isn’t just unfocused clutter – there’s always a point of view. The same goes for texture – have fun with textural plays and bring in different textures to make your eclectic home decor sing. Contrast textures against one another for a memorable eclectic feel in your home.

Eclectic Design and Home Décor Ideas

Here, the combined living room and lounge got a coat of “a beautiful frothy lilac,” and the pair piled on antiques and patterns from there. That way, when guests are over, you can simply conceal your “bedroom” by drawing the curtains. Amy Simonyan’s contemporary renditions of luxury and elegance create a unique and personalized style.

Yet trends change and the steadfast determination to keep the patterns separated has been consigned to history. More and more interior decor enthusiasts have become acquainted with the joy of playing with their patterns. Yet as Real Homes points out, ensuring that patterns clash in sweet tune and not in frightful discord is a tricky trend to master. Yet it is an essential one if you're looking to give your home an eclectic makeover. It’s important to note that there are not many hard and fast rules when it comes to eclectic style, other than the overall look shouldn’t fit into any other single category.

And the best place to find unusual objects is in every corner of the world!

But what happens if you want a design aesthetic that combines elements of all of them—and maybe more? Now you’re talking about eclectic style, a bit of a catch-all category to describe interiors that don't fit neatly into just one style. Wether it is pieces you’ve created yourself or some favorite finds from travels afar, display a collection of art on a gallery wall. Feel free to blend styles and mediums for the ultimate eclectic room decor. In conclusion, it’s all about displaying your personality in a place with eclectic interior design.

The use of a neutral color palette and furnishings with an emphasis on comfort keep this area from seeming too formal. Eclectic interior design is a style that elegantly incorporates aspects from several design styles into a single space. It has a casual combination of furnishings and design that draws from a wide range of influences.

Waterleaf Interiors

Mod, industrial, glam, classical, and mid-century objects are shown in this location. This area comes to life with a diverse combination of natural textures and materials that give it an eclectic feel in modern interior space. Natural textures ground and lend individuality to the aesthetic, from the woven baskets to the woven pendant lamp and natural wood coffee table. A gallery wall is a great way to style an eclectic home, but avoid a matched look. Pull in various colors and textures to give it a load of boho-inspired visual interest. Your entryway is the first thing visitors see when they walk in your door.

Having bright colors & patterns as the focal point is a key component of eclectic home design. Then, with a jolt of eclectic style, the aesthetic gets a much-needed twist that Goerzen says feels unique, innately personal, and seriously compelling. Incorporating both rough and smooth textures adds interest to an interior, especially when you choose a simple color palette. "Consider shaggy throw rugs or pillows, nubby or thick, weave fabrics on furniture, rough wooden treasures or furniture, and soft, smooth finishes on iron or other metals," says Adams. Do use caution as it can be easy to let eclectic design flow into a messy, cluttered, and overly busy room.

Eclectic décor typically includes vibrant colors and patterns, as well as surprising accents. Bring in bold hues and bright tones, and don't be afraid to mix and match contrasting colors. Forehand is a staunch proponent of Jonathan Adler's motto to surround ourselves with things we love, no matter their style. But such lawlessness can backfire without thoughtful curation of the things you own and those you're bringing in especially decorative items. By all means, display key objects you love, as Forehand says, "Sometimes, it’s fun to create spaces that push limits," but do so sparingly and deliberately, as was done within these artfully arranged built-ins.

Here, neutral white acts as a blank canvas against which one may freely add, subtract, and easily see results. At Borisoff Design Studio, founder Lauren Borisoff and her team pursue stepping boldly and intentionally into the uncharted while tailoring every space to reflect the owner or resident. Through intent listening and years of design experience, the team creates environments that are inspiring and exclusive. Claudia Afshar Design is a specialist high-end interior design company with a transnational footprint.

According to Decor Aid, transforming your home into an eclectic decor wonderland takes a great eye and plenty of verve, but it's also playful, fun, and offers unlimited freedom. If you're feeling restless with your current decor, and yearn for a dramatic change, then perhaps it's time to leap headfirst and without a second thought into the potential and possibility of eclectic decor. The fun part of an eclectic room is that it allows you tastefully display your treasured knick-knacks. For a professionally-styled look choose items of varying heights, colors, and materials. Another great way to add interest to an eclectic space is to incorporate various textures. Don’t restrain yourself; feel free to use fur, velvet, leather, or even raw wood within your eclectic decor.

Grounding the style with a coherent mismatched color palette is important to mixing so many unexpected pieces. Classical, contemporary, minimalist and glamorous furniture designs are all mixed together in a glam eclectic setting. It’s just the perfect amount of goofy while remaining true to its roots in traditional influences.

Furthermore, its user-friendly home decor features are simple to understand and utilize. You can develop, different styles, designs, and even produce beautiful 3D worlds with only just one piece of software. It also has a catalog with over 50,000 render-ready, pre-modelled products. The fair invites architects, interior designers, retailers and property developers to explore products by more than 100 established and upcoming brands.

If you are looking to see what actionable insights are in this field, and the various ways they can be implemented into teams and designs, this is the conference for you. As in any other industry, women in design also do not get talked about much. Yet, when we pay attention, it becomes obvious how so much of modern product and design is indebted to female thought and intuition. The organizers have yet to release a full agenda but if it’s anything like previous years, expect a lot of stimulating and insightful conversation about design and what it can do for users in the years ahead.

The Best Lawn Care Software of 2024

The landscape design software market is diverse, with many options available to suit different needs and preferences. When choosing a design software, landscape architects should consider key features that enhance their workflow and productivity. Users of this app love how easy it is to use, and being able to throw together some landscaping ideas in a short space of time.

Courses

Another factor to consider is what methods are available to preview and present your landscape design, over and above the plan view you'll use to create it. These range from positioning a camera to show a 3D render of a particular perspective, to fully immersive walkthroughs and flyovers, and even AR and VR. At $79.95, Realtime Landscaping Plus is also an excellent choice – your main compromise is the inability to add water features to your design, which may be a deal-breaker.

Best Free Landscape Design Software Options:

It has a pretty low-level need for technical skill, so you can come up with and create ideas without being too overwhelmed by how to use the tool. However, it also doesn’t skimp on the features to make your landscape look exactly how you want it to. We know what to look for when searching for the best landscape design software; it needs to be easy to use, packed with features and powerful enough to create the perfect scene on screen. You can also test the impact of different lighting conditions and seasons, allowing you to make informed decisions about which designs and features to include. This bit is crucial as not all apps allow users to download their layouts. So, if file sharing is a key feature that you’re looking for, make sure that your app allows that. In fact, in the case of some apps, only the paid version allows multiple file sharing. Apps like SketchUp, ProLandscape, and Gardena’s My Garden are supported by both iOS and Android devices.

What is the best landscape design software?

It will save you a lot of money (but may offer fewer features than you need). A CAD software would be ideal for those who want to plant the organization of their garden but don’t really need to visualize the redesign directly in 3D. So whether you’re designing your outdoor landscape or indoor environment – this software makes it possible to do BOTH AT ONCE. On top of that, you won’t have to pay landscape designers or agencies (WHICH CAN BE PRETTY EXPENSIVE). It makes no difference whether you're a novice or a seasoned landscape designer. SmartDraw makes it easy to design any outdoor space for your home or commercial building.

Many users of this tool found it easy to navigate, even if it was their first time attempting 3D modeling. However, the simplicity of this program is also its greatest downfall, as it lacks the capability to produce more complex designs. Some users found this inhibited their creative abilities and meant they had to go elsewhere to fully realize models of their designs, or upgrade to the full version to unlock more complex features. Nowadays, free landscape design software such as the free version of SketchUp have a surprisingly large library.

Professional Landscape Design Software

The use of 3D visualization also aids in identifying potential design flaws and making adjustments before construction begins, ultimately saving time and resources. Established in 1977, UCLA Extension’s Landscape Architecture Certificate program is designed for working professionals who already have at least a bachelor’s degree. It is a rigorous, 3-year program that prepares students to enter the field of landscape architecture upon completion of the curriculum. For individuals who do not have a bachelor's degree, we encourage you to start the online application process for conditional certificate application requirements. Landscape design software is computer-aided design, or CAD, especially tailored to the needs of landscape architects and designers.

You can experiment with different templates and find out what works best or straightaway upload an image of your property. While the pencil, push, and pull tools are the most commonly used functions, the controls include multiple other features enabling detailed work. So, if you want to build from scratch, here’s where you begin your masterpiece on a blank canvas. First off, the software allows you to find a relevant background from a series of stock images that look similar to your house.

For this reason, myGarden is better suited for basic layout planning rather than detailed visualizations. While there may be a learning curve to using this software, it’s still designed with beginners in mind. Drag-and-drop functions and a large product library combine to make outdoor spaces easier to design.

The future of landscape architecture is bright, with design software playing a pivotal role in its evolution. As technology continues to advance, landscape architects will have access to increasingly powerful tools that enhance creativity, improve collaboration, and contribute to sustainability. Software like Planner 5D exemplifies this trend, offering an intuitive and versatile platform for designing landscapes of all sizes and complexities. With a database of over 10,000 plants, select plants by name, view full-color images, and place them into your design.

This feature ensures that your plant choices are grounded in horticultural science, leading to healthier landscapes and reduced maintenance issues. Industry-leading software solutions such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Realtime Landscaping Architect offer robust features designed to meet the needs of professional landscape architects. Vectorworks Landmark’s sheet layers and customizable viewports allow you to make detailed construction documents that fit the needs of your design process. 3D data-driven tools and a flexible BIM workflow allow you to seamlessly update and coordinate plans, elevations, sections, and any other details in your designs. Collaborate without compromise with a software that makes producing construction documents more efficient and less tedious. Before a prospective student enrolls in any online landscape design course, researching the program’s accreditation can help decide which course is best.

In 2019, the Secret Service began construction on a 13-foot, 1-inch high fence, more than double the size of the previous 6-foot fence. The higher fence, which has wider and stronger pickets, was meant to keep intruders out, especially after a few high-profile incidents of intruders and fence-jumpers getting onto White House grounds. Secret Service officers before the child and the parents were reunited, the Secret Service said.

Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said officers "encountered a curious young visitor along the White House north fence line who briefly entered White House grounds." Accordingly to the outlet, the toddler may be the first to successfully trespass onto the complex grounds since the White House fence was doubled to roughly 13 feet in height and 5.5 inches of space were added between each picket. Officers briefly questioned the parents before allowing the family to continue on their way. The Secret Service Uniformed Division encountered "a curious young visitor" along the north fence line of the White House after he briefly entered the grounds, agency spokesman Anthony Gugliemli said in a statement.

The intruder, Jonathan Tran, was found to be carrying two cans of Mace, a passport, a computer and a book by the then president, Donald Trump. Installation of the fence began in 2019, after a number of intruders made it on to White House grounds. That same year, a man with a knife jumped the fence and made it all the way into the East Room of the White House before being stopped.

Reporting in this current political climate is a responsibility we do not take lightly, and we thank you for your support. In the most alarming incident, in early 2017, a man carrying chemical spray scaled a 5ft fence by the US treasury department next door, then spent 16 minutes on White House grounds before being apprehended. The Secret Service sprang into action after a tiny intruder crawled through the White House fence. In 2017, authorities found 38-year-old Marci Wahl hanging from her shoelaces inside the fence on the south side of the White House. Prior to the fence’s replacement, attempts — some successful — to vault the barrier had been relatively common. The National Park Service constructed a new fence in front of the White House in 2022, replacing the two-metre-tall (6.6-foot) fence with a nearly four-metre (13-foot) one.

Reporting the breach, NPR said “older children have sometimes become stuck in the iconic barrier, which has also been the scene of demonstrations, with protesters chaining themselves to the fence”. The Secret Service chief of communications, Anthony Guglielmi, said the “curious young visitor” gained entry “along the … north fence line [and] briefly entered White House grounds. In recent years, security concerns have caused the Secret Service to double the height of the fence around the White House, with AP noting the barrier now stands 13 feet tall. However, this taller fence also has an additional inch of space between its pickets, which may have allowed the toddler the room to squeeze through.

The breach happened on the north side of the highly secured property, while President Biden was inside the executive mansion, according to his public schedule. While the construction of the northern, southern and eastern sections of the White House fence have been completed, construction on the west section of the fence is expected to be finished this year. Notably, this comes after the Secret Service and National Park Service have worked since 2019 to double the height of the fence to around 13 feet after previous security breaches. A toddler briefly entered the White House grounds on Tuesday, squeezing through the metal fencing on the executive mansion's north side. U.S. Secret Service uniformed division police officers carry a young child who crawled through the White House fence on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington on Tuesday. The Secret Service rushed to intercept a pint-sized intruder at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Tuesday after a toddler squeezed through the White House fence. This is not the first time a child has slipped through the fence, according to Fox News. Access to the outside perimeter of the White House available to the public was momentarily regulated as officers reunited the toddler with his parents on Pennsylvania Ave and asked them a few questions, the AP reported. A tiny toddler squeezed through the fence of the White House on Tuesday, prompting Secret Service to respond to the intrusion.

The child is thought to be about 3 years old, secret service agents told a USA TODAY White House correspondent on scene. Access to the public area of the complex was briefly restricted as the officers worked to return the toddler to his parents on Pennsylvania Avenue. The toddler slipped through the fence on Tuesday morning, prompting officers from the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division to walk across the executive mansion’s North Lawn to intercept the youngster. The toddler is believed to be the first successful intruder across the White House fence, which was installed in 2022. In 2014, for example, a 43-year-old man scaled one of the fences, armed with a folding knife, and made it all the way into the White House's East Room. The unidentified tot may have been the first person to get through the White House’s new 13-foot tall fences, which were installed in recent years after several breaches.

The fear of being tackled by secret service officers or worse usually keeps people from breaching the roughly 13-foot fence that surrounds the White House. While taller, the new fence has an additional inch of space between its pickets, for a total of 5½ inches between posts.
